COLLEEN FLANNERY BIOGRAPHY
A Professional Artist, Colleen Flannery was introduced to  the art of Mehndi 14 years ago and has been painting with henna ever since. "The art form of Mehndi is an ancient bridge that has connected peoples and histories for over 8,000 years. It has many "languages", as the symbols and designs are adapted to each culture. With each passing year I learn more about this personal and social art form and am enchanted.  The only other type of painting that has been around as long as Mehndi is cave painting.  Very few art forms have roots this deep. I'm proud to be in the current generation of Mehndi artists who help to keep the traditions alive as well as create new ones. It is an organic art that grows and evolves and impacts society. Not to mention it's all natural, I love that! "
In addition to being an award winning Mehndi artist, Colleen has been in newspapers and magazines  for her Mehndi work in Michigan and Connecticut.

Colleen has also been a professional mural artist for 16 years. She has painted interior and exterior murals in Florida, Michigan and Connecticut. Recently, her mural "The Balance" was printed in the Norwalk Artwalk Map. "The Balance" is one of two environmental murals Colleen has in South Norwalk, CT. The other is "Our Star" in Norwalk Heritage Park.

Colleen has been a part of the Fairfield County art scene for the past 9 years. In addition to painting murals she also works in the fields of Illustration, Sculpting, Photography, Portraiture and Mehndi.
